Been interested lately in spirits or entities linked to forests and whatnot. My favorite to read about so far are the Waldgeists, ancient spirits who protect the forest and are bound to the trees. Was wondering if anyone had any more information on them or maybe even has had some kind of encounter with a forest spirit in general. All I know about them right now is that they're diviners of the future and they're believed to be where the term 'knock on wood' comes from.

From what I understand, knock on wood came from deafening the spirits bound to the wood so that they would not jinks your hopes and/or goals. Possibly two different regional origins of the same phrase?

I would like to start out by apologizing for not being totally on the stick. My WiFi hasn't been up for a couple of days and I haven't had time to use my business office's WiFi until now.
@brendan I definitely think that is correct. If you look at any two cultures or more you'll notice a lot of similarities. I doubt the two superstitions are connected to be quite honest.
Drake Well although there isn't much information what I have found so far is as follows: -These spirits could divine the future and as such the Celts would seek them out to ask them things. -They're considered protectors of the forest and would ward off evil. -They typically would appear to humans as faces in the trees but have also been told to take on an incorporeal form like a ghost or something similar.
As of right now that's all I know, but I am trying to figure out more in my off time. However most of my time right now is devoted to studying Demons which as I'm sure we all know is a almost unbelievably large subject.

Thanks for the reply. I've recently started getting into other-worldly studies myself, and have had a couple encounters. Good luck with the Demonology, and remember, Circle Magick is your friend XD

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind haha. If you'd like to, you should talk about your experiences on here. Not only would it be cool to discuss but others could learn from them.
